[Katara is looking much better than she did when they first rolled into town. She's had a bath and some rest, and her Pokemon are healing at the center. Meanwhile she's slowly made her way with Kishi from the inn to the heart of town, looking around town and getting some information.

Speaking of which...]

[The feed opens on Katara standing near the gym building, actually a few yards away from the entrance. She lifts her free hand to jerk her thumb towards the doors. Lapras can be seen just beside her.]

So we just got into Mahogany town earlier today, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the gym here. I'm thinking I'd like to challenge it before we make our next travel plans.

[A glance back, then to the Gear again.]

Anyone know what type the leader and trainers use, or what rewards they give out for winning? Thanks a lot in advance! [She ends the feed with a smile. This was thankfully neutral, nay, almost upbeat compared to almost all of her feeds before.]

[Leave it to Riku to enlighten trainers about the gyms. Needless to say, this is one question he can definitely answer.]

Pryce uses ice and water types, so a fire or electric type should handle them.

And if you beat him, you get the TM for Hail.

[Well that was quick! Actually she recognizes you. She's pretty sure she watched one of your battles before.]

Yeah, I remember watching one of your gym battles a few months ago. You must have most of the badges by now, right?

Actually, I've got all of them.

Really? Do you mind if I ask which gym prizes were the most useful for traveling...?

Surf and Fly, hands down. Haven't done much with the other prizes, but I guess they're okay.

And you have to beat certain gyms to use them even after your Pokemon learns the move, right? This place is so weird. [She sounds amused about it by now, having learned to take it in stride.]

Yeah, but it's not so bad. You get the badge for Fly pretty early. Same goes for Surf.

[Which means getting the badges before getting the moves; it all works out.]

Just one more question, is it true that those moves require two badges? [It didn't make sense to her when she heard it, it couldn't be strength, Kishi was as strong as she'd ever get but still couldn't support her for travel by water, nor could Charizard carry her while flying yet.]

You need the Zephyr Badge for fly and the Mineral Badge for Surf. Thing is, Violet City and Olivine are pretty far apart, so you might as well get the other badges, too.

We had some new arrivals in Mahogany town, so we ended up getting some badges out of order, but we did get the Violet badges already. I think we're heading to Ecruteak and Goldenrod next.

Well, they're good badges to have. Even if the badges don't do much, I figure it's better to complain the challenge than to pick and choose.

Makes sense. They've got to be in order for a reason, I guess. Alright. After we get back to Violet I'll head for Azalea then. [But I'm avoiding caves if I can because so much do not want for that last one.]

Sounds like a plan. Bugsy's pretty easy, anyway.

[Says the guy who beat his whole team in one hit.]

Which just goes to show how lousy the 'pros' are.

Well, it seems kind of odd that they don't ever seem to improve. You'd think they'd have pretty strong Pokemon by now after battling so many trainers.

Yeah, that's what I don't get. Their Pokémon never change-- not even by level.

[If she knew about technology and computers she could theorize on it more, but she has to make due with what she knows.]

It's almost like they're... not real. Like they're puppets. It's creepy, to be honest.

Gym leaders give out badges! Oh, but I'm sure you knew that already...

It's nice to talk to you again. How many badges do you have already?

This will be my second, if I win! We came to get a friend of Ed's, so we haven't stopped to challenge any of the gyms on the way here.
